Therapeutic Medical Massage
In the use of Therapeutic Medical Massage, our medically trained, licensed massage therapist manipulates the soft tissues of your body — muscle, connective tissue, tendons and ligaments, using various degrees of pressure, movement and techniques to complement chiropractic care and acupuncture treatment. This supports the initial acute care, and we find with continuing regular applications, helps to hold adjustments for longer periods of time.
Gua Sha Reserve
Gua Sha is rooted in Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). According to the principles of TCM, your qi, or energy, must flow throughout your body so you can feel your best.
When qi, or energy, becomes stagnant in certain areas, it can manifest as muscle encapsulation, soreness, weakness, or pain. Gua Sha Reserve is performed by our Gua Sha certified massage therapist, and is only prescribed to certain patients for certain conditions based on your initial exam and consultation with our doctor.
GSR creates reddening by raising petechiae just under the skin, by using a smooth-edged tool to scrape areas of your body, lifting connective tissue, generating heat, increasing blood supply to congested tissue to regenerate in a healthier recovery.
Cupping Therapy
Cupping is a form of massage therapy which decompresses soft tissues using vacuum suction, unlike other forms of massage that compresses soft tissues. During cupping, the cup gently sucks to your skin and lifts underlying soft tissue into the cup.
Cupping benefits are the following:
Release scar tissue and fascial adhesions
Reduce painful trigger points
Improve circulation, blood and lymph circulation
Relieve pain
Promote mobility and range of motion
Improves mature scars
Decrease toxins
In addition to focused Therapeutic Medical Deep Tissue Massage, Gua Sha Reserve, and Cupping Therapy, we have a specifically trained Pfrimmer Deep Muscle Therapist on staff.
Pfrimmer Deep Muscle Therapy
Pfrimmer Deep Muscle Therapy® is a highly refined system of corrective treatment designed to aid in the restoration of damaged muscles and soft tissue in the entire body and concentrates on all layers of muscle that have become depleted of their normal blood and lymphatic flow. This specific therapy helps to restore healing to the cellular level.
Different types of symptoms will call for different types of therapeutic massages. Here at OHealth, there is no one-size-fits-all massage therapy as each patient’s needs are unique to their bodies.
